Description

13AM Games is a game development studio based in Toronto, Canada, established in 2014. One of the co-founders is Alex Rushdy, acting as CEO of the company.

The studio debuted with the platformer Runbow in 2015. Released across multiple platforms, total downloads reached almost two million in 2022, with a significant number of those coming from Xbox Live Games with Gold. The game was originally intended as a small project the developers could put on their resume and move on, but the success led to new projects at the studio.

In 2016 Pirate Pop Plus was released, a game by dadako for which 13AM provided additional development, porting and the publishing. They recouped their investments quickly, but found out the publishing side took away a lot of their development time.

In 2019 the action platformer Double Cross was released.

In 2022 the studio released Dawn of the Monsters, a cooperative beat 'em up with giant monsters in cities inspired by kaiju and tokusatsu. It was published by WayForward Technologies. 13AM Games previously worked together with WayForward to get their character Shantae in Runbow. They showed them an early concept of Dawn of the Monster and were offered a publishing contract.

The company has received support from the Canada Media Fund and the Ontario Media Development Corporation for the development of their titles. For technology the studio uses Unity as a multiplatform game engine, FMOD as the sound engine, as well as Krita and Spine for art and animation.
