American Girl is a children's brand known for its line of dolls, toys, books and other media. Established in 1986 and based in Middleton, Wisconsin, the company, formerly known as Pleasant Company, released a series of educational dolls portraying young girls from different eras in American history. In the 1990s the company released a line of contemporary dolls known as "American Girl of Today" as well as baby dolls for younger audiences.
American Girl's mission is to offer a line of wholesome, age-appropriate and family friendly toys which aim to teach history, traditions, and values, and set examples for girls of today through their BeForever and their Girl of the Year dolls.
