Blitz Games Studios Ltd.

Description
Blitz Games Studios was a UK company formed on 19th March 1990 as Dizzy Enterprises by the Oliver Twins (Philip Oliver and Andrew Oliver). On 11st January 1994 the name was changed to Interactive Studios. In 2007 the company employed a staff of around 200 people.
On 29th June 2000 Interactive Studios was renamed Blitz Games and again on 2nd April 2008 to Blitz Games Studios because of the multiple development divisions it owned. From then on Blitz Games Studios acted solely as the umbrella company, while most development duties, especially its family oriented licensed character games, are to be attributed to the separate division Blitz Games. It is not clear at which point the two Blitz Games became two distinct entities.
The company owned the following divisions:
- Blitz Arcade
- Blitz Games
- BlitzAcademy
- BlitzTech
- TruSim
- Virtual Experience Company (acquired in 2006, sold back in 2008)
- Volatile Games
In 2008 the company launched the Blitz 1UP program to help independent developers bring their game to the market, assisting with production and QA. It was closed in 2011 and replaced by the independent distribution portal IndieCity.
On 12th September 2013 Blitz Games Studios announced in an official statement that they had ceased trading after being unable to secure funds to sustain the business. The company then employed 175 people and said to secure 50 jobs. In November 2013 the two founders revealed the new company Radiant Worlds, bringing along a number of the original Blitz Staff.
