Description

Cateia d.o.o. (Cateia Games) is a development and publishing studio working on games for PC, Mac, iPhone, Linux and Nintendo consoles founded in 2004. Based in Rijeka, Croatia, Cateia Games developed and published numerous games worldwide in many different languages such as English, German, French, Italian, Croatian, Russian, Polish, and Czech.

Over the years Cateia Games built partnerships with companies such as Big Fish Games, MumboJumbo, Sandlot Games, iWin, PlayFirst, rondomedia, GamersGate, and others.

Some of their original games are The Legend of Crystal Valley, Iron Roses, Shaman Odyssey: Tropic Adventure and Hotel.

On 4 June 2020, the Russian casual games publisher Playrix announced the acquisition of the company and it was rebranded Playrix Croatia with a new focus on mobile development. The last instance of this name being used was March 2022 during a presentation of the Edu4Games project with several universities meant to bring more Croatian students to the gaming industry. It is not known when exactly the change occurred, but by June of the same year, all mentions of Playrix were dropped, and the company referred to itself as Cateia once again.
