The company was founded as Kuju Sheffield in 2002, as one of the regional development studios of Kuju Entertainment Ltd.. In June 2007 the company's name was changed to Chemistry.
In June 2009 Kuju announced that the Chemistry studio would be closed imminently unless a last minute management buy-out deal happened. It was closed shortly after.
