Computer Recreations, Inc.

About

Computer Recreations, Inc was founded in June of 1971 in California by Stanford University's then recently graduated Bill Pitts and his high-school friend Hugh Tuck. The company was formed with the goal of creating a faithful coin-operated version of Spacewar. They succeeded, and released Galaxy Game in September of the same year. It was the first ever coin-operated video game, although it never got to be mass-produced due to its high hardware costs.
