Description

Eidos Montréal was originally a development studio of Eidos Interactive. It was formed in Canada in February 2007.

In addition to development, the studio also performed Quality Assurance testing for all of the Eidos' divisions worldwide.

The first title developed at the studio was Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which was released in August 2011. Since then, the studio has developed games primarily in the Deus Ex, Thief, and Tomb Raider franchises.

On 2 May 2022, Embracer Group AB entered into an agreement to acquire the studio along with Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montréal from Square Enix. The acquisition was completed on 22 August 2022. From then on, the three studios form Embracer's 12th operative group under the leadership of Phil Rogers and his management teams. The operative group is interchangeably referred to as "Crystal Dynamics/Eidos Montréal" and "CDE Entertainment", while select games would have Eidos Montréal as the assigned publisher on digital stores in January 2023.

With the move of its sister studio Eidos Shanghai to the Gearbox operating group within Embracer and the silent closure of Eidos Sherbrooke in January 2023, Eidos Montréal is the final remaining company bearing the Eidos name as of 2023.
