GameStorm

Launched on November 21, 1997, GameStorm was a multiplayer online gaming service. Owned and branded by Kesmai Corporation, the portal featured games from Kesmai and Engage as well as SegaSoft's Heat.net. It also offered a "turnkey solution" for websites interested in hosting online games.

Members of GameStorm were charged a flat fee of $9.95 USD per month for "unlimited access to everything". The co-branded area within GameStorm also featured links to GameSpot, allowing GameStorm members to access additional GameSpot content without having to exit the world of GameStorm.

Monthly events, contests and give-aways were conducted to help promote the service. One of their first such events took place during the month of May 1998 when $1,000 was given away per day to randomly selected members.

GameStorm, along with parent company Kesmai, was sold for $30 million USD to Electronic Arts in 1999, and disbanded in 2001.
