Kongregate is an online portal that publishes browser based games. It is owned by GameStop, Inc.. Developers can upload their game to the portals. Kongregate integrates ads in it, which makes the developer money based on the number of plays. In October 2008, according to Daniel Benmergui, this is $45 for 66,000 gameplays and $92 for 97,700+ gameplays.

Developers can also integrate Kongregate API to enable badges (similar to Xbox 360 achievements and PS3 trophies) to have players keep track of various achievements in different games on the site. More money is given to developers when they sign exclusively to the portal or integrate the API.
