Sony Manchester Studio
About
Sony Manchester Studio was a game development studio owned by Sony, part of the Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios, and based in Manchester, UK. It was established in May 2015 as North West Studio and later renamed Manchester Studio. The studio was set up to work exclusively on games for Sony's Project Morpheus (later renamed PSVR) virtual reality headset.
On 4th February 2020 Sony announced to close the studio "as part of our efforts to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness". The studio was working on an unannounced VR project. Staff included developers from Evolution Studios. Possibly some prototypes that were developed at Evolution were continued at the Manchester studio.
