Spicy Horse is a game development studio based in Shanghai, China and it was founded in 2006. The company's first title was American McGee's Grimm series, a Windows game split up in three series with different episodes that retell the tales of the Brothers Grimm with a much darker voice. Episodes were released on a weekly basis through the GameTap service, starting on 31st July 2008.
The studio worked on Alice: Madness Returns, a sequel to American McGee's Alice (2000), released in 2011.
In May 2011 the company announced to have received a $3 million investment from Vickers Venture Partners. Following the completion of Alice 2 for Electronic Arts, Spicy Horse said to create a 3D online game based on one of the PopCap brands, working together with the Shanghai studio Shanghai PopCap Software Co.,Ltd.
