Description

TalonSoft was a developer and publisher of PC strategy, simulation, and action games. The company was founded in Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 1995 by Jim Rose, producer of board and computer games for Avalon Hill, and John Davidson, the former Vice-President of MIS for Alexander & Alexander. In 1997, the company signed Norm Koger, Gary Grigsby, and Keith Brors as game designers.

The company's own intellectual properties included the Battleground series, Age of Sail series, Campaign franchise, The Operational Art of War series and others.

In early 1999, the company was acquired by Take-Two Interactive Software. They would start publishing third-party titles such as Hidden & Dangerous and Jagged Alliance 2, as well as titles from other Take-Two subsidiaries like JetFighter IV: Fortress America.

In the early 2000s, some staff including Davidson would leave and form Freedom Games.

TalonSoft was closed in 2005. Most of its assets were sold to Matrix Games. The game Norm Koger's The Operational Art of War III would be finished in 2006 by the latter.
