Description

Tokyo Shoseki (東京書籍) is a Tokyo-based book and media publisher that was originally established in 1909, which focuses primarily on the educational market.

The company entered the Famicom market in 1986, initially with educational titles, but soon after started publishing console conversions of Nihon Falcom's computer games, and launched the Tonkinhouse brand in 1989 through which all of their entertainment software products were sold. In 1997, the entertainment software division was spun off into the subsidiary Tokyo Shoseki Media Factory, which also took control of the Tonkinhouse brand. Both companies left the games market entirely in 2004.
