Ubisoft São Paulo
About
Ubisoft São Paulo is the Brazilian office of Ubisoft Entertainment SA based in São Paulo. Announced on 24th June 2008, the studio was officially opened in July 2008. It was Ubisoft's first division in South America and it was started with 20 developers.
The studio's focus is on working closely with other Ubisoft studios on the development of family-oriented titles for portable and home consoles. It is headed by Bertrand Chaverot, who already had four years’ experience in the country, operating Ubisoft's Brazilian sales subsidiary from 1999 through 2003.
On 20 January 2009, Ubisoft announced to have acquired the Brazilian development company Southlogic Studios. Southlogic was integrated into Ubisoft São Paulo, with Southlogic management reporting to Bertrand Chaverot, managing director of Ubisoft’s Brazilian studio, but as a satellite office keeping its facilities in Porto Alegre.
On 29 September 2010, both companies were downsized. Anonymous developers spoke of it as a closure caused by diminishing interest in casual Nintendo Wii and DS games, although Ubisoft denied this.
