Wanderful was founded in 2010 and located in Novato, California, USA. The Wanderful Storybooks line was launched in September 2012 which was previously known as Living Books from 1992 to 1999 after they have acquired the rights from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The Wanderful Storybooks apps were made for iOS, Android, Intel Mac OS X (via the Mac App Store), and later for Windows. The company's founders are Mark Schlichting and Mickey W. Mantle.
In January 2023, the company was acquired by Jordan Freeman Group, with Jordan Freeman becoming its CEO.
