Even though the content is largely identical to the free episodes, this commercial release has a minor change in the story and more content at the end.
Mr. Gilbert is a private eye in the city of Mavropolis. His looks like a squid and belongs to the race of the Ancient, a race with psychic powers. While in his office he gets a visit from Lora Malaguard. She wants him to find a young girl named Daphne, a childhood friend who has been missing since a few days. She works in the nightclub Trembling Stars whose owner is a known mobster by the name of Little Big Bog.
The game presents a city map with different locations. In each location there are interactive spots like people or objects that can often be picked up and are stored in an inventory. They can either directly clicked on to interact or be combined with inventory items. A major part is talking to people to advance the story, receive clues and gain access to new locations or contacts.
The game has a noir atmosphere with colors mainly in black, white and grey. The city of Mavropolis is home of corruption and crime and inhabited by supernatural beings or beings with occult powers.
