Aden
Description
Aden is an action game with rhythm game elements. The story begins when an amnesiac girl, Toaka, drops into a world threatened by "Purgers" - abstract monsters that kill people. Toaka discovers that she can destroy Purgers through the power of dance and sets out to find the truth behind their origin.
The game alternates between dialogue scenes, beat-'em-up sections, and boss fights. In the beat-'em-up sequences, the player travels through areas and fights encountered Purgers. Purgers can be damaged by bull-rushing into them or by grabbing them and swinging them around to deplete their health. Different types of Purgers attack in various ways, and some have special immunities.
During boss fights, the player faces other inhabitants of the world and must fight them across multiple stages where the boss continuously gains new attacks. Here, the only way to damage the boss is by rushing into them. Once the boss's health is depleted, the player must complete a rhythm minigame before advancing to the next stage of the fight.
The player's health can be restored at any time by using one of a limited number of healing items. Rapid attacking depletes the player's stamina, which must be allowed to replenish before resuming attacks.
Defeating Purgers and bosses grants points that can be exchanged for upgrades, such as increasing health, stamina, or the number of healing items.
