Agartha

Description

Agartha is a canceled survival horror game that would have revolved around the mythical underground city of the same name. Set in a Romanian village in the winter of 1929, the protagonist was Kirk, an old man who finds himself battling against the evil residing within Agartha as it tries to escape to the surface. Kirk would have crossed paths with the local villagers, the living dead, fanatical cultists, monsters, demons, soldier monks, priests, archangels, and even the Sentinel, the ultimate personification of evil.

The game would have featured an inventory with various items that could be collected and used as well as third-person combat with a gun. In addition to the single player story mode, an online component was planned that would have seen players taking part in team play or deathmatch modes.

Agartha was announced in 1998 with an expected release date of 1999. As of September 2000, the new expected release date was 2001, but in mid-2001, the game was canceled due to SEGA's decision to stop development of the Dreamcast and its games.
