Arctic Quest 2

Game cover: Arctic Quest 2

Description

Arctic Quest 2 is the sequel to the 2005 puzzle game Arctic Quest and uses the same core mechanics. The story now focuses on the son of the Snow King in the first game. He turns Earth into an icy prison for all creatures. In each level a large, irregular shape needs to be filled in with small pieces of ice resembling jewels. There is no single solution for a puzzle as the player chooses where to place the pieces until the shape is complete. The mouse is used to click, snag and drag the pieces as they fall down from the top of the screen at a constant rate and the right mouse button is used to rotate them. A level is completed when the shape is restored entirely. Not all pieces fit, eventually when the shape is almost complete, and redundant pieces can be discarded by throwing them into a fire or in the water. However, when the water is completely filled with pieces of ice before the shape is complete, the level is lost.

Bonus points are earned for snapping three or more pieces of ice of the same kind (color) into place next to each other. Lightning can be used to destroy pieces, some creatures are trapped in pieces and can be freed, water elements help fill patterns, pieces of ice located between two flames in the shape will be destroyed, and wood needs to be used to make the fire burn brighter. The creatures with bonuses from the first game return: rescued snails slow down time, a pufferfish can fill a portion of the shape with water, a crab can smash pieces into small triangles, a jellyfish can use its tentacles to destroy pieces, a piranha can destroy all pieces of ice in the water and regular fish and clickable birds provide bonus points. The pearls return and there are no shells to store them for use later in the game. There is a new rainbow colored piece of ice that matches with any piece and another piece constantly shifts its type while falling down until it is grabbed.

All levels are new and they are unlocked gradually along a level path. All trophies are stored in a separate trophy room.
