baSnake

baSnake is Snake / Nibbler variant and is a portmanteau of BASIC and Snake. You must eat randomly placed apples in order to grow longer, whilst avoiding touching yourself, the walls (if applicable), or a mongoose that randomly appears. The apple slowly deteriorates and points are lost the longer you take to reach it. If you take too long, the apple rots and another one will appear elsewhere in the playing field. In some cases, it may be wise to allow a difficult apple to rot and hope another spawns in an easier-to-reach place. You can wrap around to the other side of the screen as long as there are no walls. There are eight different screen layouts (gardens). The Spectrum Next version additionally has five selectable speed modes.
