Balamory
Description
Balamory is a title for young children. It is based on the BBC Scotland series and consists of a a series of mini-games featuring characters from the series.
This title runs in full screen mode, the game area is 800x600 and sits in the centre of the screen, while all the surrounding area is filled with a black border. The game menu shows the village of Balamory with each building representing a different game or activity. In the top left is the sun, which provides in-game help throughout the game while on the right side is a ship that represents the game exit. All mini-games have three levels of difficulty, the activities are:
- Edie's Delivery Dilemma: Penny and Suzie run a shop that sells fruit to the schoolchildren; unfortunately all the fruit fell out of the grocer's van when he was making his delivery. In this game the player has to drive the van around the streets of the village collecting all the fallen fruit. The van can be controlled by either the keyboard's arrow keys or by clicking on the on-screen arrow keys.
- PC Plum Investigates: The policeman has muddled up all the clues for the incidents he is investigating and needs help sorting them out. He asks a question and the player has to select the correct pictures from his noticeboard. Some questions such as "which creatures have wings?" are straightforward while others such as "Who teaches the schoolchildren?" require knowledge of Balamory's characters.
- Balamory Stories with Miss Hoolie: This is not a mini game; it is a story session.
- Spencer's Paint Challenge: This is a standard 'paint by numbers' activity with the option to print the final product.
- Penny and Suzie's Shopping Spree: The shop is very busy and Suzie needs help with the orders. The task is to select items from the shelves and drag them to the basket.
- Josie's Hide and Seek: Josie Jump is needed to help out at the nursery but she's hidden in a crowd of people, the task is to spot her.
- Archie's Word Wonder: This is a spelling game. Archie loves to tell stories and he wants to invent a machine to make more stories for him to tell. The machine provides two letters of a word and on a shelf are three more. The task is to use the correct letters to make a word and help Archie.
