Batten Tanuki no Daibōken

Batten Tanuki no Daibōken is an action side scrolling beat 'em up game.

Once upon a time, there was a village where only animals lived. One day, the Count Wolf came to this village, cast a spell on the animals, and took them all to the wolf castle. The only one who survived was an old lady rabbit who was sick. At that time, a Tanuki came to this village. When he heard about the situation from the old rabbit, he bravely went to the wolf castle to save the villagers from the magic alone, even though he was training in kung fu.

To make it to the Count Wolf, you as the Tanuki has to search for five color keys (blue, yellow, red, white, and green) to open the gates to the castle. Before doing so, you need some items to progress through the area. First you need to find these items:

• Scroll - Shows you the area where you're at (there's 400 screens in total)
• Candle - Lights up the darkness in the caves
• Shield - Increases defense
• Crystal - Allows you to cross lava
• Whisky - Allows you to cross water
• Crucifix - Prevents you from falling into holes
• Chest - Contains food or mosquitos that will either increase or decrease your health when opened

While searching around for these important items, you will encounter wild animals and skeletons to fight by kicking or punching to fend them off. Some can shoot, fight, and jump (only in the MSX and Sharp MZ-1500 version).
