Big Challenge! Jūdō Senshuken
Description
Jaleco's first entry in the "Big Challenge" lineup of Famicom games is an uncommon choice of combat sports for video game adaptation: Judo. Forget what you know about IJF scoring rules, the tournaments in Big Challenge! Jūdō Senshuken have their own rules: A match lasts for 2 minutes and requires 3 points to win. A yuko is worth 1 point. A waza-ari is worth 2 points and requires a 5-second pin. An ippon is worth 3 points and requires a 10-second pin. The fighting mechanic in this game heavily relies on the stamina stat of each judoka. You can improve your stamina stat by playing practice matches in the dojo before starting the tournament competition.
Once in tournament mode, you cannot back out to practice in the dojo. The tournament mode consists of a domestic tournament (namely Japan in this context) and a world championship, in that order.
