BlazBlue: Central Fiction

Description
BlazBlue: Central Fiction is a single-player and multiplayer 2D fighting game. The story serves as the conclusion to the BlazBlue saga, bringing together dozens of characters whose fates have been shaped across previous entries. The central figure is Ragna the Bloodedge, whose battle against the controlling forces of the Novus Orbis Librarium and the mysterious phenomenon known as the Boundary reaches its climax. The narrative unfolds through a visual novel-style story mode, where multiple arcs and character perspectives intertwine to resolve the long-running conflict and reveal the destiny of the world.
Core gameplay follows traditional 2D fighting mechanics with a four-button control scheme. Each character has light, medium, and heavy attacks, as well as a unique “Drive” button that activates abilities specific to them. These Drives define the cast’s playstyles, ranging from elemental attacks and stance changes to resource-based mechanics. Players chain normal and special moves into combos, manage a Heat Gauge to unleash Distortion Drives or Exceed Accels, and time defensive techniques such as barrier blocking or counter bursts to withstand pressure.
A new Overdrive system grants temporary access to powered-up abilities, often altering move properties or unlocking special attacks. When activated, Overdrive slows the opponent’s gauge depletion and extends combo opportunities, adding a layer of strategy to meter management. The Active Flow mechanic rewards aggressive play by boosting damage and regeneration during matches, contrasting with penalties for overly defensive tactics.
The roster includes over 30 playable fighters, each with distinct move sets, weapon styles, and story significance. Returning characters are joined by newcomers who expand the cast’s variety and introduce new gameplay mechanics. Each fighter’s complexity ranges from accessible beginners to technically demanding specialists.
Beyond standard arcade and versus battles, the game provides a wide range of modes. The extensive Story Mode is complemented by Arcade, Score Attack, and a robust Training Mode with detailed tutorials that teach mechanics step by step. Grim of Abyss Mode blends survival battles with role-playing progression, allowing players to level up characters, acquire abilities, and fight through increasingly difficult stages.
Multiplayer includes both local and online play, with ranked and casual matches. Online lobbies allow customization of avatars and spaces where players interact before engaging in battles.
