Borderlands 4

Description
Borderlands 4 is a first-person shooter with role-playing elements and the direct sequel to Borderlands 3. It introduces a new cast of Vault Hunters and a fresh setting while maintaining the series' focus on cooperative looter-shooter gameplay and an extensive arsenal of procedurally generated weapons. Compared to the previous entries, this installment moves the game into a full open world.
The game takes place on Kairos, a planet destabilized by events following the conclusion of Borderlands 3. Players assume the role of one of four Vault Hunters—Vex the Siren, Amon the Forgeknight, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, or an additional new character—each seeking a hidden Vault while confronting The Timekeeper, a tyrant who controls the world through implanted tracking devices. The narrative involves resistance factions, a search for ancient treasures, and confrontations with The Timekeeper's lieutenants across diverse regions, including deserts, grasslands, and vertical cityscapes.
Borderlands 4 retains the core looter-shooter mechanics of its predecessors. Players collect weapons, shields, grenades, and class mods from procedurally generated loot pools, allowing extensive customization of character builds. Each Vault Hunter features three skill trees with unique action skills and passive bonuses. Examples include Vex's ability to summon spectral doubles or beasts, Amon's deployable elemental melee weapons, and Rafa's turrets and mobility-focused gadgets.
Movement options expand on previous entries, adding gliding and a grappling hook to sliding, climbing, and mantling. These mechanics support both traversal and combat, allowing players to reposition or manipulate environmental hazards. Enemies range from standard bandits and beasts to heavily armed soldiers, mechs, and bosses with multiple phases. Vehicles such as hover bikes assist in traversing large environments, and side quests offer additional experience, loot, and optional lore.
The game supports solo play and four-player online co-op, with level scaling and instanced loot for all participants. The main campaign consists of missions leading to encounters with The Timekeeper and his lieutenants. Side content includes dynamic events, exploration challenges, and optional quests spread across the planet's four regions. A wide variety of weapons—featuring alternate firing modes, elemental effects, and situational bonuses—encourages experimentation and frequent respecs of character skill points.
Borderlands 4 continues the franchise's cel-shaded art style, combining exaggerated environments with stylized character designs. Dialogue and mission text feature a lighter tone than previous installments, while cinematic cut-scenes and voice acting provide context for major story beats. Cooperative play, shared progression systems, and a persistent loot economy remain central components of the experience.
