Breakthrough
Description
Breakthrough is 1-player arcade puzzle game for the BBC Micro and Electron.
Trapped in a world of fire and energy, the player must battle for the most valuable prize of all: their life. The player moves laterally, and has the power to create red blocks in any empty space in front of the player. These can be destroyed if the player moves into the side of them.
The goal on each level is to reach the key and then the exit door within 99 seconds. Green blocks can not be destroyed. Dangers include fire, spiders that hang from webs, ghosts that move laterally, and vampire bats. There are bonus blocks that can contain diamonds (collect three for an extra life) or an hourglass to slow the timer. There are also crowns and potions that grant bonus points. Every five levels completed awards a passcode that can be used to restart from that level.
