Bullet Audyssey

Game cover: Bullet Audyssey

Description

Bullet Audyssey is a space ship shooter with a bullet hell environment combined with a rhythm mechanic. The player's ship is part of the Audyssey fleet fighting the Euphony Gods who invaded the worlds and stole the last resources. Each level consists of a single screen with the ship fighting a huge alien enemy, often with multiple highlighted parts that can be targeted. The goal is to destroy the enemy by shooting it, draining the energy meter near the top.

However, the ship only has a limited amount of bullets and to recharge and get access to ammo again, enemy bullets need to be absorbed. This is done by getting close to them as they pass by. The ship emits a pulse tied to the game's music and when a bullet is inside the halo-like pulse when the beat strikes it recharges the enemy meter shown next to the ship. That way destroying the enemy is a combination of both shooting and absorbing, while working with the game's soundtrack. An additional key can be used to slow down time.

The levels are shown on a path with multiple options. The game keeps track of the score and upgrades can be earned, for instance permanently raising the bullet damage. The ship starts with five lives and two hearts (hits) per life. There is a save option to keep the progress stored.
