Buran

Description
Buran is a genre-mix inspired by the Soviet space shuttle of the same name. It features two distinct games, each accessible independently from the title screen.
The first game is a simulation focused on launching the shuttle and deploying satellites. It begins with a first-person cockpit view, where the player must activate the launch sequence by selecting buttons in the correct order. A time limit is imposed, and repeated incorrect inputs result in mission failure. The second phase shifts to a side view, requiring rapid alternating input to achieve liftoff. The third phase, also side-view, returns to a button-selection mechanic as the player places satellites into orbit.
The second game is a shooter composed of eight levels that alternate between two styles. Even-numbered levels are top-down scrolling shooters in which the player controls the shuttle, engages enemy formations, and collects power-ups such as weapon upgrades. The goal is to survive until the end of the level. Odd-numbered levels are side-view stages with slower-paced gameplay. The player navigates maze-like environments, avoids enemy fire, and transitions between screens by reaching exits.
Both level types share core mechanics. The shuttle has a limited fuel supply that depletes over time and must be replenished via specific power-ups. Players have a finite number of lives, which are lost upon fuel depletion or contact with enemies or their projectiles - each hit results in instant death.
