Byzen

Description

Byzen is a real-time strategy game set during the Spanish American wars of independence. It focuses on the conflicts between Uruguayan revolutionaries and the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata during 1811. The game allows you to either play a regular match with up to three other players (either via single-player a.i. or online multi-player), or play through a set of five historic scenarios.

When you first spawn into a game you are given some worker units which can be used to gather resources and construct buildings, some military units, and a civic centre which can be used to train citizens to create more units. You have four separate resources that are used to train citizens and construct buildings: food, wood, stone, and metal. Buildings can be used to increase the your max population, store extra resources, research improvements, and expand your territory which is surrounded by a fog of war. You can control your units by either clicking on them or selecting them with a bounding box. This allows you to tell your units to do different tasks, change how they automatically react to enemy units, and move your units into certain defensive or offensive formations. You win the game once all your opponents civic centres have been destroyed.
