Caesar's Revenge

Caesar's Revenge is a fast-paced first-person brawler/shooter that is set in the late Roman Republic. Julius Caesar is slain by the conspirators in the Senate, but somehow returns shortly thereafter and seeks revenge against those who betrayed him.

In spite of the deliberately low-resolution look of the game's visuals, Caesar's Revenge does not try to directly mimic gameplay from 90s first-person titles, but instead takes a more modern approach that focuses on fights with packs of different enemies, mostly in spacious environments like halls and courtyards, with an emphasis on speed and skill, which may be compared to Will Rock. Making enough kills grants Caesar a temporary boost of speed and attack strength. The player's and enemies' weapons and equipment are generally based on historical Roman weaponry (although not necessarily typical for Caesar's era), but there are supernatural creatures and elements to be found later on in the game as well.

Levels are mostly linear in design, although sometimes the player's path will be winding around a hub area. However, there are still optional sections and outright secrets that contain useful items. In fights, the player is often required to vanquish all enemies present to be able to proceed to the next part of the level, with previously visited areas then getting locked off, without any possibility of backtracking. Sometimes the path is blocked by locked doors, for which keys need to be found elsewhere, and other types of doors or gates are operated by levers to open. There are over 30 levels in the game, split into three acts.
