Canyon

Canyon Battle is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.

The player is the pilot of a small biplane, and the sole remaining defender of the little mountain kingdom of Asdel. An armada of tyrannical robotic Xarian attack craft are approaching through the narrow gorge that leads to Asdel.

The player's biplane is fitted with a single micro-shell canyon, and the player, trapped between the steep jagged walls of a canyon, must defeat the slow moving Xarian craft. The biplane moves left, right, forwards, and backwards, as the canyon and enemies scroll from the bottom of the screen. The player must avoid hitting walls, enemy craft, or getting shot down by enemy fire. The goal is to survive 24 canyons, and shoot down two out of three Xarian crafts.
