Casse-Briques Chinois

Game cover: Casse-Briques Chinois

Description

Casse-Briques Chinois is a game in the vein of Arkanoid in which the goal is to destroy a wall of bricks by bouncing a ball on a paddle located at the bottom of the screen. When destroyed, some bricks release power-ups that affects the gameplay either positively (for instance by allowing the paddle to shoot bullets, making the paddle wider or adding additional balls) or negatively (for instance by making the paddle narrower or the ball smaller).

The game is themed after the history and mythology of Ancient China and its 160 levels are split between four settings depicting the Terracotta Army, a large Buddha statue, a set of Pagodas, and the Great Wall.

One of the game's peculiarities is the presence of pandas on every level that provide special points when saved. To do so, they must be freed from the bricks supporting them to make them fall towards the bottom of the screen. The player must then bounce them off the paddle and send them to an area in the top right of the screen where they can escape. The special panda points are saved across all games and can be used at the beginning of a level to purchase boosters.
