Chaos

Description

Chaos is a fixed-screen platformer played from a side view with gameplay and visuals reminiscent of the original Duke Nukem. Players control Mega Bart, a hero tasked with stopping the fictional software corporation MacroHard before it grows powerful enough to threaten democracy. Set entirely within a cyberspace environment, the game requires players to guide Bart through a series of levels filled with enemies, hazards, and bonuses while navigating a large virtual network.

Movement is controlled primarily with the keyboard's Shift keys. Arrow keys are used for precise single steps, while the Shift keys enable running. Combat involves shooting enemies, with unlimited ammunition but only one projectile allowed on screen at a time. Enemies injure the player on contact, and environmental features can be used strategically—bonuses act as barriers to enemies while remaining permeable to the player's shots. The character can also jump. There are also various items in the game that can be picked up: a disk (10 points), a joystick (5 points), fries (extra life). Enemies include robots, rockets and cannons.

The game launched as shareware with a first episode called Indringer! provided for free. Two additional episodes, Bevrijder! and Chaos! were presumably provided after registering.
