Chocks Away

Chocks Away is a flight simulation game loosely set during the first World War. The missions, of which there are 20 of increasing difficulty, are varied, from target ground attack and interception to a vast archipelago scenario. Each mission is undertaken solo and must end with a perfect landing.

The player flies a single British Tiger Moth aircraft against German airplanes and anti-aircraft forces. As your plane does not have infinite fuel, you must return to the home airfield to refuel. The Tiger Moth carries a single fixed forward-firing machine gun with infinite ammunition. The view from the cockpit makes you feel like a real pilot. Your plane can take up to six hits before going down. You may repair your plane only if you get back safely to your home airfield.

The German aircraft are the Fokker Eindecker, Fokker Triplane and Gotha G.IV bomber.

In addition to the missions, the game includes a Practice mode with skirmish-style scenarios, ranging from landing and takeoff exercises, to dogfights, to attacking a large enemy aircraft formation.

An interesting option is a Recorder where you can watch your flight to analyse a mistake that "grounded" you, and lets you take control just before the fatal error to change your fate.
