Choice of the Ninja
Description
What Choice of Kung Fu did for China, Choice of the Ninja does for Japan: gives players a chance to play through adventurous martial-arts missions (albeit a somewhat smaller set of them) in a fictionalised setting loosely inspired by its historical real-world analogue. Here players steer a junior ninja from Kochi, a ninja village, undertaking assignments decreed by the village's patron, the beleagured Lord Sano, and other shadowy authorities. Most situational obstacles in the story can be solved through application of a combat approach, a stealth approach, or even a magical approach, and similarly the player has a spectrum of options for forthrightness and cooperation with companion ninja. As with all Choice of Games offerings, a number of statistics are tabulated in the background, informed by players' prior training choices and informing in turn their likelihood of later success. Player options are, as usual, selected from a list following descriptive narrative passages.
