Description
CycloManiacs is 2D side-scolling bike racing and stunt game in which the player controls the character by moving left and right, jumping, flipping forwards or backwards for wheelies on the ground or sommersaults in the air and blowing a horn.
Performing wheelies or flips without falling off increases a boost meter that ingnites a temporary boost when completely filled and starts a subsequent next level boost meter before cooling down when no tricks are performed or the player falls.
The player starts as a robot on one available track trying to win races to unlock a total of 26 additional tracks in 6 worlds with varying characteristics and 19 other pop culture referencing characters with different stats in jumps, stunts, wheelies and speed.
The goal of most races is to leave the 9 other opponents behind and complete achievements on the way to the finish line, such as finishing races within a certain time, performing specific stunts or collecting a set number of items. Winning races and achievements earns a currency which can be used to level up before each race in five different skill categories - Top Speed, Acceleration, Brake, Boost and Spin - with increasing prices on each of the 10 skill levels.
More than winning races the game places its focus on the achievements. Each track has 3 achievements to earn, except for the last track in each world which only has one achievement and in some cases fewer opponents. Several additional minigames can be played in the game.
