Dead or Alive 2

Dead or Alive 2 is a single-player and multiplayer 3D fighting game. The game centers on the second Dead or Alive World Combat Championship, a martial arts tournament that draws together fighters from across the globe. Each competitor has their own motivations, from personal vendettas to proving themselves as the strongest. The story mode follows these individual characters as they face rivals and progress through the competition, with short cutscenes tying together their encounters.

Combat emphasizes fast-paced strikes, grapples, and counters. Each fighter has a unique move set, and the series’ trademark counter system allows players to reverse attacks by anticipating timing and direction. Movement occurs in three dimensions, with the addition of a dedicated dodge button to sidestep into the foreground or background. Matches are often fought in multi-level arenas, where characters can be knocked through walls, windows, or over railings into new areas, changing the layout and flow of the battle.

Tag team mode allows players to select two fighters and switch between them during combat. Characters can chain attacks together, call in partners for combo finishers, or rescue them from danger with well-timed switches. Unlike some other tag-based fighting games, Dead or Alive 2 retains its standard single-player arcade and story modes alongside the tag system, providing both solo and team-based play styles.
