Dead or Alive: Dimensions

Description
Dead or Alive: Dimensions is a single-player and multiplayer 3D fighting game. The story mode, called Chronicle, retells the narrative of the series up through Dead or Alive 4, presenting the major events and rivalries from the perspective of multiple characters. Players experience the ongoing struggle between the ninja clans, the DOATEC corporation, and the fighters drawn into the Dead or Alive tournaments, with Kasumi’s pursuit of her rogue clone Alpha-152 serving as a central thread.
Combat retains the series’ hallmark four-button system: punch, kick, throw, and hold. The mechanics emphasize a triangle relationship where strikes beat throws, throws beat holds, and holds counter strikes. Successful counters depend on precise timing and correct directional input, rewarding knowledge of opponent behavior. Each fighter has a distinct moveset that balances speed, power, and technique, from Kasumi’s swift strikes to Bass’s grappling power. Arenas remain multi-tiered and interactive, with breakable floors, walls, and environmental hazards that can be used to extend combos or deliver high-damage knockbacks.
Dimensions introduces adjustments for handheld play while keeping the depth of the mainline entries. A touch screen option allows players to execute moves and combos by tapping commands, offering accessibility for newcomers, though the traditional control scheme remains intact for advanced play. Critical stuns, juggles, and danger zones all feature prominently, and the game supports both fast-paced duels and more strategic bouts that emphasize defense and counterplay.
Multiplayer is available both locally and online, with one-on-one fights and a point system to track wins and losses. A StreetPass feature allows players to exchange character data and AI-controlled fighters when systems pass each other, adding a passive collection element.
