Deadlock

Description
Deadlock is an upcoming third-person shooter and MOBA game set within a 1920s-inspired alternate version of New York, following an event known as the "Maelstrom" which brought supernatural forces into the mortal world. As of mid-2025, the game is in a closed alpha stage of development, with the game having been overhauled several times and even rebooted from scratch since the testing period began.
Each match takes place between two opposing teams of six heroes, each with their own unique set of skills and abilities. There cannot be multiple instances of the same hero in each match, so each player must control a different character. The goal for each team is to destroy the other team's Patron, a large floating golem located in their base, while defending their own Patron. Both bases are connected by three lanes which can be traversed on foot or by zipline. The halves of the lanes which belong to each team are guarded by powerful NPCs called Guardians and Walkers which must be destroyed by the opposing team in order to progress. Each team has smaller NPCs called Troopers which periodically spawn and charge into battle, drawing fire from Walkers and Guardians to make it easier for allied players to topple them.
Destroying enemy players, Troopers, Guardians, or Walkers awards Souls, which must be collected and used to upgrade the hero's abilities or exchanged at a shop to purchase new ones. Souls can also be collected from breakable objects around the map, by killing stationary monsters, or by delivering a Soul Urn to the same location on the opposite side of the map. Souls of dead enemies linger in place for a few moments after death and can be stolen back from their killers by being shot by an allied player before the soul can be transferred to the enemy team. As Souls are used to empower heroes and develop their skills, proper usage of Souls is critical to a team's success.
