Desert War

Desert War is a search and rescue-themed helicopter shooter. In the year 20XX, a dictator has risen to power in a Gulf country and captured foreign prisoners. Allied forces send in a small special rescue team to both bring back prisoners and perform tactical search-and-destroy missions.

Unlike typical shoot 'em ups, the player can slow down or speed up the vehicle and scrolling at will. The fuel meter constantly ticks down though, so haste is imperative.

The player can land the chopper to pick up nearby prisoners, similarly to Jackal or Choplifter, who need to then be unloaded at the next helipad. Picking up or dropping off prisoners refill a small amount of fuel. Special prisoners come with extra bonuses, such as upgrading your weaponry, restoring armor or a bigger fuel refill. Getting hit by enemy attacks will cause you to lose some prisoners.

Each mission has an objective such as rescuing a certain amount of P.O.W.s or destroying target objects.

The game can be played co-operatively with two players. There are three campaigns to choose from, with increasing difficulty and three, four and five stages respectively.
