Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 is a single-player action hack-and-slash game. The story takes place several years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, when a massive demonic tree called the Qliphoth emerges in Red Grave City, unleashing chaos and feeding on human blood. Three demon hunters converge on the threat: Nero, who has lost his demonic arm to a mysterious figure; Dante, the veteran hunter with deep personal ties to the demon world; and V, a newcomer who commands summoned beasts rather than fighting directly. Their stories intertwine as they face the growing demonic invasion and uncover the secrets behind the Qliphoth and its master.

Gameplay revolves around fast-paced, combo-driven combat with three distinct playable characters. Nero wields his Red Queen sword and Blue Rose revolver while using interchangeable Devil Breaker prosthetic arms, each granting unique abilities such as grappling, explosive charges, or time manipulation. Dante fights with a wide variety of weapons, ranging from swords and firearms to unconventional gear like motorcycles and gauntlets, and he can freely switch between four combat styles for different techniques. V stands apart by summoning three familiars to fight on his behalf, requiring the player to manage them from a distance while finishing enemies with his own cane.

Combat emphasizes fluid combos and stylistic performance, with enemies graded from D to SSS based on creativity, variety, and momentum. Each character has unique upgrade trees that expand move sets, unlock new weapons, and enhance abilities using red orbs collected during missions. The player can replay missions to earn higher style ranks, discover hidden items, and test new strategies. Boss battles punctuate the campaign, demanding mastery of movement, timing, and the strengths of each hunter.

Resource management is handled through different types of orbs. Red orbs serve as currency for upgrades, blue and purple fragments expand health and magic capacity, and gold orbs allow immediate revivals upon death. Customization occurs at points between missions and through Nico’s mobile shop van, where Nero in particular can purchase and equip Devil Breakers.
