Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye (Premium Edition)

Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant's Eye is a pinball machine with a branching story accessed by hitting targets on the playing field with the ball and then using the flippers and center button to make choices based on what's shown on the screen above the board. Choices usually include things like which path to take in a dungeon, which often determines what monster the player will battle next; battling is done by aiming the ball at certain targets on the physical board and knocking down their "HP" with each hit. There are multiple story routes and it may take a player several sessions to finish a "campaign."

As play continues, the player not only racks up a higher score like traditional pinball machines, but their character will level up and even earn equipment. Character progress can be saved between sessions via Stern's Insider Connected program.

The "Premium" Edition of the machine is the middle-priced of three versions. Gameplay is largely the same, but the Pro Edition has a dragon with less movement than that of the Premium Edition, which has a fully animatronic red dragon that can shoot the ball back to the player. The artwork on the cabinet is also different, and the bottom arch is made of metal instead of plastic like the Pro Edition.
