Elite III

Elite III started out as a major customization of the original in the late 80's, that got renamed to Elite-A when the official Frontier sequels started coming out.
Based on the original codebase it improves upon it by allowing the player to command different spaceships compared to only the Cobra Mk III in the original, starting out on a lowly "Adder". It also includes even more ships, cargo delivery missions and an incorporated encyclopedia with information on ships, equipment, controls, charts plus system and market data.
