Extinction

Extinction is a top-down 3D shooter with zombies, guns and cars in a free-roaming environment inspired by the early Grand Theft Auto titles. The game is set in a then future 2012 and in the later iOS release moved to 2019. In a small town near Russia a nuclear power plant was built, located a few miles outside the city. People protested, but nobody showed any interest to fix this problem. Later, the power plant exploded, releasing a virus and causing a zombie invasion. The player takes the role of one of the few survivors in the city. The character can walk around in the dead town and needs to save survivors while avoiding zombies. Various weapons can be used to attack the zombies and it is also possible to drive cars to shoot or smash into them. Multiple kills in succession are tracked as combos and are awarded with more points. The game contains two game modes: Free and Survivor. The game was made for the YoYogames Competition 05.
