F1 Delta Time

Description
F1 Delta Time is a licensed Formula 1 racing game. The focus is largely about buying, trading and collecting cars, drivers and parts as NFTs, as a blockchain game built on the Ethereum network. Upon release in 2019 it was only a simulation of racing based on the cars and components (engines, tires, wings etc.). The action racing component was added on 17th December 2020 when the first phase of the Grand Prix mode was introduced to the game, allowing the player to directly control their car while racing, using a top-down view. Before that races were entirely simulated, based on the car, driver, parts, track and weather conditions. Races are only single-player, competing against other players worldwide in time trials for the best time.
The Garage acts as the player's wallet, showing every car, driver and part that is owned as an NFT. In the Workshop the car can be set up by putting together the different components. There are also cosmetic elements that do not influence performance such as the driver's clothing. Staking is the gambling part where putting in a stake determines the weight of your bet and how many rewards you may be able to claim upon winning events. Staking is done in fixed periods and there are also time limited events.
A major premium currency in the game are REVV tokens, previously used by Animoca in other titles. They are used to buy NFTs, but also to complete transactions in the game as car requirements and stakes need to be fulfilled to participate in events. Rewards by winning are also provided through these tokens. As a blockchain game, the NFTs are traded on sites such as the NFT marketplace OpenSea. There are also keys, as well as lootboxes as collections of NFTs that are sold as crates with a randomized assortment. Rarity is also an important part as there are cars only a single individual owns by having won an auction. The Landmark 1-1-1 car for instance was sold for $113,000. The game also sells parts of events. For instance, 5% of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco 2020 event was sold as an NFT to a single player for $223,000.
A fourth part is the Time Trial, where the races are simulated between all participants and a pool with rewards in REVV is divided between the winners based on their stakes. Elite is similar, but only accessible to players who put up a high stake in REVV tokens. Grand Prix, the final part, is the action racing element, taking place on different courses.
The game was shut down on 15th March 2022 when the Formula 1 license could not be renewed. While the NFTs remained property of the owners, they could no longer be used inside the game. Owners of cars, event segments, crates, keys and other assets were offered the option to transfer, exchange or receive replacements on the Polygon blockchain ecosystem or in other games by the developer such as REVV Motorsport.
