FIFA 17

Description

FIFA 17 is a single-player and multiplayer soccer/football sports simulation game. For the first time in the series, a story-driven mode called The Journey is included. This mode follows a young footballer named Alex Hunter, a fictional rising star in the English Premier League. Players guide Alex through the early stages of his professional career, influencing his progression through dialogue choices, performance in matches, and off-pitch decisions. The narrative intertwines with real clubs and players, offering a structured campaign alongside the traditional modes.

On the pitch, 2017 gameplay improvements include an "Active Intelligence" system that boosts teammate movement and spatial awareness, more realistic physical play and shielding, revamped set-piece controls with more precision, and upgraded attacking options like driven finishes and through-ball mechanics. It also introduced the new celebration, the dab/dabbing.

The core gameplay continues the series’ focus on realistic football simulation. Matches are played in full 11-versus-11 settings with licensed teams, leagues, and stadiums from around the world. Players control passing, shooting, dribbling, and defending in real time, while tactical options allow adjustments to formations, pressing intensity, and individual roles. The game introduces the Frostbite engine, which improves animations, physical interactions, and atmospheric details in stadiums. Set pieces have been redesigned, giving greater control over free kicks, corners, and penalties.

Career Mode returns with expanded features. Managers can now negotiate objectives with the board, balancing financial, youth development, and performance targets. Transfer systems allow loans, permanent signings, and contract negotiations, with squad morale influenced by playtime and wages. Player growth is tied to performance and training sessions, which can be manually played or simulated.

Ultimate Team remains a major component, letting players build custom squads from cards earned through packs, objectives, or the transfer market. Chemistry between players based on nationality, league, and club affects performance on the pitch. Squad Building Challenges introduce new ways to earn rewards by trading card collections.

Additional systems include Pro Clubs, where players create or join clubs with friends and control a custom player across online leagues. Kick-Off, Seasons, and Tournament modes provide traditional standalone matches with licensed rules and structures. Multiplayer options include local matches, online play, and co-operative team control.
