Fire Rock

In the year 2102 A.D., a ray of light falls from the sky, secretly carrying invaders to our planet. After building their base deep underground, amidst the ruins of an ancient human civilization, they launch their invasion a year later. A lone warrior must now journey underground to destroy the heart of the enemy base, in order to save Earth and the human race.

Fire Rock is an action platformer for the Famicom Disk System. In each of the six vertically scrolling stages, you have to defeat four bosses and find four key items to unlock the exit, while exploring a maze of doors and caverns. The barbarian-like protagonist is only armed with throwing torches, which can be upgraded to the eponymous Fire Rock. All walls are climbable, to help in the vertical traversal of the stages. One of the more unique mechanics is that collecting meat items increases your jump height, and higher jumps are sometimes required to reach items or progress to new locations in a stage.
