Fishing Star World Tour

Game cover: Fishing Star World Tour

Description

Fishing Star: World Tour sees players traveling the globe on their airship to try and catch 182 species of fish at various fishing spots. Ponds, swamps, and open ocean will often have extra visual touches like ancient ruins, shipwrecks, or distant mountains, but the focus of the action is on the water. Standing in one spot, the angler first chooses their rod, reel, and lure, these unlocked by completing missions like catching specific fish or ones that rate highly enough based on a four star system. The rod and reel primarily impact the line strength while the lure's "congeniality" will determine which fish will bite.

When a fish bites, the player needs to move their rod and time their reeling to pull in their catch without snapping the line. The rod will gradually build up power that eventually triggers a small event where the fish will swim around in a set of rings, the player needing to yank the fish out as close to the center as possible so that the fish will be pulled in closer. Certain levels feature boss fish that are stronger than most fish, but there are also legendary fish to find and even objects like boots and jewelry to reel in. Any fish that is successfully caught will be added to the Fish Book that tracks caught species and the largest specimens reeled in.

Fishing Star World Tour can be played with with the controller buttons or the Joy-Con's motion sensing capabilities. There is also a dedicated mode for the Toy-Con Fishing Rod Labo set where the fishing mechanics are applied to ocean trolling.
