Description

Flash Trek: Broken Mirror 2 is an updated/improved version of Vex Xiang's Broken Mirror 2, which was never finished. In Flash Trek: Broken Mirror 2, the player chooses to represent one of several Star Trek races (Humans, Vorta, Klingons, Ferengi, Romulans, Vulcans, and Cardassians) in a "mirror universe" of the Star Trek setting and is granted a small starter ship based on which race the player chooses. The game play is reminiscent of games like Star Control and Starflight (particularly the Sega Genesis port); The player warps from planet to planet using a galaxy map and upon arriving will be given free control to fly their ship. Like the aforementioned games, Flash Trek: Broken Mirror 2 is a game not only of exploration, but also a trading simulator. The player can haul trade goods to be sold at stations orbiting one of the many planets in the galaxy, which earns money to be used to purchase ship upgrades or even larger, more powerful ships. Combat takes place around the various planets and space stations, and is between the player and other ships; However the player can also attack the planet itself in an attempt to conquer it for their faction. Planets can also be captured through diplomatic means or through trade. The game makes use of a fleet system, which allows the player to hire additional ships that can be used to conduct trading independently or as escorts for the player's ship. Resources such as latinum (the in-game currency), deuterium, antimatter, and dilithium must be managed, as some of them are crucial to the ability to warp travel.
