Description

Glimt: The Vanishing at the Grand Starlight Hotel is an augmented reality game originally created for the Magic Leap 1 system. The game takes place in a contemporary setting in which there are magic users called "warlocks", in a town run by a mayor who has been campaigning on anti-magic policies. The player takes on the role of a top detective at the "Warlock Investigation Bureau" and they are assigned to investigate set of missing persons cases that all recently took place in the Grand Starlight Hotel.

Gameplay in Glimt is spread across eight different "cases" that the player is tasked with solving. They solve a case by using their psychic powers to get visual "impressions" of a scene that ocurred in the past, and then they place 3D objects in a room to try and accurately recreate the scene based on what they see in their impressions. Once all objects have been correctly placed in the room, the player is able to view the full "vision" play out and can answer questions about the case to send to the Warlock Investigation Bureau.

The game was funded and created through participation in Magic Leap's "Indpendent Creators Program".
